1. In 2009, 87 percent of Americans own a cell phone, this survey was released by Marist Institute for Public Opinion which also revealed that ownership reached to 94 percent of respondents under 45 years of age.

2. Teens are also into cell phones. Pew Internet & American Life Project reports that cellular phone ownership in teens aged 12 to 17 in the US reached 71 percent in 2008, a big leap from 45 percent in 2004. Figures are expected to grow when the next survey results come in.

3. China tops the world in number of mobile phone use with over 765 million users, something that did not come as a surprise with China's 1.3 billion population.

In reality they seldom attack a human."

6. Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association reports a total of 740 billion SMS sent in the US for the first half of 2009. That's about 4.1 billion SMS being sent everyday.

7. Modu Mobile has created the world's smallest cellular phone. The Modu Phone has a dimension of 71.1 x 37.6 x 7.8 mm and weighs as little as 39 grams.

8. Mobile phones contain toxic substances that need to be disposed in a safe manner. Some dangerous components include cadmium, copper and nickel which should not be normally disposed of as trash.

9. While there is much talk about cell phone use raising the risk of certain cancers, the National Cancer Institute reports that research studies have not shown a consistent link between cell phone use and cancer.
